A public action

The action of collecting and giving away plastic bottles was first performed on the Split waterfront in 2007. My aim was to draw attention to the dramatic economic differences and the status of the “ordinary” man within the current political and financial situation in Croatia, as well as to the drastic deterioration in the standard of living of the “middle classes” in times of rocketing increases in prices and the devaluation of work. Throughout history, a state of poverty and dissatisfaction has led people to anger and revolutionary change. Apparently, the idea of revolution has likewise lost its value - having been turned into a “brand”, it has acquired other properties. Revolution is now regularly used for marketing purposes and we are confronted with innovations that introduce “revolution” into various consumer goods. The SUPEREVOLUTION is the ultimate Product that we take from those we are or should be fighting against. With this action, I wish to allude to the permanent repetition of movement in one and the same direction. Through the symbolic presentation of recycling waste material (in this case bottles and tins, since collecting them has turned into a survival strategy for those who are socially most deprived in the new capitalist Croatia) - shopping, consuming, throwing aw
